LEEUWARDEN Are there sex shops for people who are trans or queer? There are in Leeuwarden. On Tuesday, Moos Oskar (29) will open his own shop on the Snekertrekweg. A tiny office space without daylight, hidden in the former PTT building that is now called the Stations kwartier. This is where Moos Oskar from Leeuwarden begins his adventure called Wild Ones. Moos grew up in Deventer, but moved to Leeuwarden for the Academy for Pop Culture. I have my friends here and I had a child who is now 6. That connects me to the city." Moos never saw himself as a woman, but after his pregnancy he knew for sure. It felt very alienating." 2.5 years ago he really went into transition" and half a year later he chose his current name. The seed for his own business was planted two years ago during a visit to an inclusive sex shop in Berlin. I thought: how great would it be if people in Leeuwarden could experience that too." The body of someone who is going through a transition can work slightly differently than other bodies. It changes to such an extent that it is very nice if you can talk about it with someone." Moos himself uses testosterone, which leads to beard growth and a deep voice, but also changes in the genital region. You get undere sensations, and air pressure toys no longer fit properly." Along the way, he discovered the language to deal with body parts you're not a fan of." He prefers to avoid words like cunt or dick. For himself, he uses the English term bottom growth. For people with gender dysphoria, the physical characteristics do not match their gender identity. Being reminded of this all the time can then be a mental burden. So the webshop does not have a section for 'him' and 'for her', like most sex shops. Moos also only sells sex toys with gender-neutral packaging. I want to eliminate that moment of confrontation." The white Ikea cabinet that serves as a display case contains, among other things, air pressure vibrators with a larger mouthpiece.
